Hannah's Prayer: Giving Back to God What We Treasure Most

She praised not her own son, but the Lord who brings low and lifts up, who makes poor and makes rich. 「My heart rejoiceth in the LORD, mine horn is exalted in the LORD: my mouth is enlarged over mine enemies; because I rejoice in thy salvation.1 Samuel 2:1 (KJV)」 Prayer and Surrender Hannah's story teaches us that prayer is not only asking God to change our circumstances; it is letting God change our hearts as we wait. She poured out her sorrow and offered back what she treasured most, and so she received a blessing greater than a son: the peace and joy of resting before God.
