My Grace Is Sufficient — Power Made Perfect in Weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9)

“He said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness’” (2 Corinthians 12:9). Paul had a “thorn” in his flesh, and to this day we do not know exactly what it was — perhaps an illness, perhaps persecution, perhaps some struggle that dogged him. Three times he begged the Lord to take it away. But God did not remove the thorn. Instead He gave Paul a deeper answer: my grace is sufficient for you. Most of us, when we pray, are asking God to remove the weakness, take away the hardship, fix everything. That is a natural prayer. But God's answer to Paul turns the whole thing around. He did not say, “I will remove your weakness.” He said, “My power is made perfect in your weakness.” In other words, the very weakness you assumed was blocking God's power is exactly the place where His power can be most clearly displayed. What a freeing truth this is. You do not have to become strong first before you are worthy of God's help. You do not have to hide your brokenness and pretend you can handle everything. On the contrary, it is precisely at the end of your own strength that God's grace most truly holds you up. That is why Paul could say, “I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me.” Weakness is no longer a shame; it becomes the doorway through which grace enters. Today you may be staring at some weakness of your own, feeling ashamed or discouraged. Try a different angle. Bring it to God, not to demand He remove it at once, but to say, “Lord, in this thing I am powerless over, let Your power be made perfect.” God's grace is not merely barely enough; His “enough” is full, overflowing, more than sufficient. The weakness you face today may be the very place where someone tomorrow will see God at work in you; the crack you cannot hide becomes the opening through which His light shines in. Ask God not to waste your weakness but to display Himself through it. Lord, I bring You my weakness and this thorn. Thank You that Your grace is sufficient for me. Let Your power be made perfect where I have no strength, so that what people see is You and not me. Amen.
