Fear Not, for I Am with You (Isaiah 41:10)

“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand” (Isaiah 41:10). In one breath God gives four comforts here: I am with you, I am your God, I will strengthen you, I will uphold you. Each phrase is like a nail, fastening a trembling heart back onto Him. God does not say, “There is nothing to be afraid of.” The threats Israel faced were real — enemies surrounded them and the road ahead was uncertain. God's way of comforting is not to deny the danger but to declare His presence: “for I am with you.” His remedy for fear is not to remove the thing you dread but to place Himself between you and that thing. The deepest root of fear is often “I have to face this alone,” and God's answer strikes exactly there: you are not alone. Look again at the hand. “I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” The hand that holds you is not a weak hand that tires and lets go, but the righteous right hand of the Almighty. You do not have to keep your grip on God by your own strength — He keeps His grip on you. Even when your faith trembles, even when your own hands have gone limp, the One who holds you never lets go. Today, if fear is pressing on your heart, try not to deny it but to set God's promise beside it. Say to yourself, “Yes, this frightens me, but God is with me; He is my God, and He is upholding me with His righteous right hand.” Let God's presence be more real and more near than your fear. Every step you take today, you do not take alone. Fear may still come knocking from time to time, but it is no longer the last and loudest voice in your heart; God's promise arrived before it and will outlast it. When the fear rises again, speak these promises back to yourself, one phrase at a time, until your heart catches up with what is true. Father, there is fear in my heart, but You say You are with me. Strengthen me, help me, and uphold me with Your righteous right hand. Let me walk forward today, step by step, leaning on Your presence. Amen.
